Courts in the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit require mediation in most contested family cases before granting a trial date, and the process resolves a large share of them. The combination of cost, time, and the uncertainty of trial gives both sides a practical incentive to reach agreement, and a skilled mediator can often find common ground the parties could not reach on their own.
Settlement at mediation is common, but it is not automatic. Brodzki Jacobs makes sure a client’s settlement is one reached from a position of understanding, not exhaustion.
