Checklist for Parent Relocation

For the custodial parent, the relocation process is less challenging considering that you have the physical custody of the child; however, in order to avoid potential legal issues, make sure you check the following:

• Child’s best interest
• Separation agreement’s inclusion of potential relocation
• Separation agreement’s inclusion of geographic restrictions
• Other parent’s thought of the relocation
• Make sure everything is put into writing
• Possible modifications in the agreement
• Prepare proofs and substantial evidence that moving is best for the child
