Modifying Child Support
When Income Changes

A significant change in either parent’s income can make the existing child support order inaccurate. Florida’s guideline calculation uses both parents’ net incomes, so a raise, a job loss, or a shift from employment to self-employment can all affect the number. Brodzki Jacobs can run the updated calculation and petition for a revised order.

The change must be substantial and ongoing. A temporary dip in income, such as a brief layoff followed by re-employment at a similar level, is unlikely to meet the standard.
